Norrath: World
of EverQuest® II
A world scarred by a vicious Cataclysm. All that was once
known has been rendered unknown, and new eras emerge to take their place.
Following the long, devastating Age of War, a great Rending, coupled with the
destruction and raining shards of the moon Luclin,
tore the continents to pieces, making alien landscapes of familiar plains and
sinking many settlements into the depths of the ocean. But Norrath is a world of heroes, and of powerful villains,
and neither ilk will allow their world to sit in ruin. The Age of Destiny has
begun, and the denizens of Norrath come forward to
claim it.
Kunark
Among the dense jungles and volcanic stretches of the isles of Kunark, bitter struggle is a way of life. In Timorous Deep, a newly progenerated breed of Sarnak, bigger and stronger than their cousins, battle with the spiroc bird-men to establish a home for themselves, while simultaneously grappling with questions of their mysterious origins. Elsewhere, Kunark's other denizens clash against the spread of the lich king Venril Sathir's Empire. Join in their struggles with the schedule release of the Rise of Kunark™ expansion on Nov. 13, 2007. Faction: Evil and Neutral Races Citizenry: Sarnak, Iksar
Neriak
Below the surface world of Norrath lurks the heart of the Teir'Dal Empire - Neriak. Built within a cavern that could swallow an island, the city is made of dark, poorly lit paths that wind their way through elegantly constructed buildings where none but a dark elf could feel at home. Above ground, the Teir'Dal have extended their influence by establishing an outpost called Hate's Envy in Darklight Wood. The Wood is also home to a race of winged folk called the Arasai. These Arasai are blindingly loyal to the Teir'Dal Queen Cristanos, whom they worship as a goddess, and are powerful allies to the elves. The playable race the Arasai and the city of Neriak are the latest content additions to the world of Norrath. Faction: Evil Races Citizenry: Dark Elves, Arasai
Faydwer
Far to the east of the Shattered Lands, across the churning Ocean of Tears, the continent of Faydwer rests almost completely unchanged from the ages preceding Cataclysm. Some say this is the result of the powerful magic that seems to converge here, preserving it despite any conflict that seems to touch it. Despite this, however, not all is as idyllic in Faydwer as it might seem. Both the agents of Mayong Mistmoore and the Thexian Empire threaten its purity, and its magic may not be enough to save it. Released with the expansion pack Echoes of Faydwer™. Faction: Good Races Citizenry: Fae, Wood Elves, High Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Half Elves
The Dragon Isles
On the very edges of the realm of Norrath, floating islands known as the Overrealm have bled slowly into existence. Among these are the Dragon Isles, a clutch of such islands fought over viciously by a number of dragon lords. This might have remained a problem belonging only to the distant skyline had not one such dragon lord descended and claimed the Qeynos Claymore for himself. Now, the people of Norrath find themselves called to these distant and exotic locales. Released with the expansion pack Kingdom of Sky™. Faction: N/A Citizenry: Aviaks, Droags, Dragons
The Isle of Ro
Beneath the sands of the desert island of Ro are the remains of great elven kingdoms and the once majestic Elddar Forest. Like skeletal hands, ruins rise up from the sand and sea as a reminder of what once was. The heart of habitation on Ro is the city Maj'Dul with its mad prophets and intricate web of politics. In the heart of the desert lie the remains of the Silent City, through which stalk undead cultists who once sought eternal life in its waters. Adventurers flock to seek its treasures and face its unholy dangers. Released with the expansion pack Desert of Flames™. Faction: Neutral Races Citizenry: Humans, Giants
Qeynos
Ruled by the just hand of the young queen Antonia Bayle, Qeynos is a bastion of hope within a sundered world. Though it was reduced to rubble during the Age of Cataclyms, it has since been rebuilt through the cooperation of the Qeynosians and the Tunarian Alliance of woodland folk. The result is a city of sweeping architecture and vibrant sylvan groves from which heroes of unparalleled valor emerge. Released with the original base game EverQuest® II. Faction: Good and Neutral Races Citizenry: Human, Kerra, Erudites, Barbarians, Dwarfs, Gnome, Halfling, Half Elf, Wood Elf, Froglok, High Elf
Freeport
When Lucan D'Lere banished the Knights and Priests of Marr from the walls of Freeport and declared himself Overlord, the city rid itself of any pretensions of honorable intent. Though its corrupt militia may run a brutal shift and its streets are far from safe, residents of Freeport pride themselves on being true freemen. Of what use is valor when it binds you in chains? In Freeport, you make your own destiny. Released with the original base game EverQuest® II. Faction: Evil and Neutral Races Citizenry: Ogre, Troll, Erudites, Kerra, Gnomes, Ratonga, Barbarian, Iksar, Dark Elf, Half Elf, Human
